Sucre, Bolivia
Sucre, Bolivia
It's whitewashed walls and colonial streets have led to its designation as a UN World Heritage Site.
Despite its beauty, Sucre has high rates of poverty, domestic violence, and low standards of living for women and children. The Good Shepherd Sisters have several community outreach projects to respond to these issues. They run a day care center for children, an education program for children and youth, a domestic violence shelter, and a fair trade crafts business. There are two volunteers placed in Sucre, and they have the opportunity to work in any of these programs.
