1) What attracted you to GSV?
Their commitment to social justice and emphasis on community, spirituality, and living simply.

2)Where are you serving?  Collier High School in Wickatunk, New Jersey.

3)How have you seen personal growth as a result of your experience (site placement/community) with GSV?
I feel guided by St. Mary Euphrasia as I begin to understand her caring zeal for working with youth.  I am steadfast in my hope for the future of these teens.  My eyes are being opened to their simple needs; they need to feel safe and nurtured in a way that allows them to be self-expressive.  It is a wonderful experience to support the kids while they reach for their potential and grow into the people they will become.  Having someone who cares about them can make all the difference in the world.

  Age: 22
Favorite Books: Catcher in the Rye and Green Eggs and Ham
Favorite Music: The girls that live at Euphrasian Residence have really opened my ears to reggae, Dave Matthews Band

1) What attracted you to GSV?

What really drew me into GSV is the openness in the program which encourages you to be yourself. All of the volunteers have different religions and different cultures, but we are all here to do service.

2)Where are you serving?

I am serving at Euphrasian Residence, a diagnostic center for young women in New York.

3)How have you seen personal growth as a result of your experience (site placement/community) with GSV?

In this short time I have noticed that I am a lot stronger than I had thought. There is a lot of craziness that goes on working with teenaged girls. I found that I can handle it. My community is there for me as a listening ear and a support system, which I value. With my community and the Lord's help I have found I that can not only handle the most stressful situation, but come out if it with a smile.
